Why this page exists

When food is sold at a distance, the mandatory particulars have to be available before you buy, not only on the label when the parcel arrives. That is Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011. This page carries them, and each product page repeats the ones specific to that size.

A note on health claims

We make no health claims for this oil, and you will not find any on this website.

Under Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006, only claims on the authorised Union list may be made for a food, and claims that a food prevents, treats or cures a disease are prohibited outright. A great deal of what is said about olive oil online would not be lawful on a label.

There is one authorised claim for olive oil — that its polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress — and it may only be used where the oil is shown to contain at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per 20 g. We do not currently publish that claim.

If you have seen health claims attributed to Olivius in older printed material, please treat this page as the current and correct position.

Why the oil varies

Colour ranges from green-gold to golden depending on when in the harvest the fruit was picked. A fresh oil is cloudier and more peppery; it settles and softens over its first months. Cold weather can make it go cloudy or partly solid in the bottle, which reverses at room temperature and is a sign it has not been over-processed.

None of that is a fault. It is what an unfiltered single-harvest oil does.
