What we sell
Extra virgin olive oil, produced from Koroneiki olives grown in our own groves at Zakros, Sitia, Crete. One oil, offered in several sizes. There is no reserve bottling and no second grade: every size contains oil from the same pressing.
Full labelling information for each size — net quantity, origin, acidity, harvest year, storage and best-before — is shown on the product page and summarised under product information.
Photographs are illustrative. Olive oil is an agricultural product and its colour and flavour vary from harvest to harvest. That variation is not a defect.
Prices
All prices are in euro and include VAT at the rate applying in your delivery country. The price you see on the product page is the price you pay for the goods; shipping is added at checkout and shown before you confirm.
We may change prices at any time, but never for an order you have already placed. If a price is obviously and significantly wrong — a decimal point in the wrong place, a bottle listed at a fraction of its cost — we may cancel the order and refund you in full rather than fulfil it. We will tell you if that happens.
How an order is made
Placing an order works like this:
- You add items to your basket and enter your delivery details.
- You choose how to pay and confirm the order. This is your offer to buy.
- We reserve the stock and send you an acknowledgement by email.
- The contract is formed when we confirm dispatch, not when you pay.
If we cannot fulfil an order — the last tin sold a moment earlier, or we cannot deliver to your address — we will tell you and refund anything you have paid, in full.
No account is required and none is offered. You check out as a guest and find your order afterwards using the order number and the email you used. We do not ask you to create a password to buy olive oil.
Paying
You can pay by:
- Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, through our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
- SEPA bank transfer. We hold your order for seven days and ship once the transfer arrives. Quote your order number as the reference, or we cannot match the payment.
- Cash on delivery, in Greece and Romania only, where the courier network supports it.
Card and wallet payments are handled by a regulated payment institution. Their terms apply to the payment itself; ours apply to the goods.
Ownership of the goods passes to you when we have received payment in full. Risk of loss or damage passes when the goods are handed to you or to a carrier you appointed yourself.
Delivery
We deliver throughout the European Union, from our grove in Crete and from a stock point in Frankfurt am Main. Costs, weight bands and expected transit times are set out in the shipping policy.
Delivery estimates are estimates. If we have not delivered within 30 days of the contract, you may set a reasonable additional period; if we miss that too, you may cancel and we will refund you in full.
If something is wrong with it
You have a legal guarantee of conformity under EU law for two years from delivery. If the goods are faulty, damaged, or not what was described, you are entitled to have them repaired or replaced, or to a price reduction or a refund. This is your right by law and nothing in these terms reduces it.
In practice, for olive oil, that usually means: a leaking or broken bottle, a seal that was not intact, a product past its best-before date on arrival, or an oil that is rancid. Tell us within a reasonable time of noticing, send a photograph if you can, and we will replace it or refund it. We do not usually ask for the bottle back.
This is separate from your right to change your mind, which is covered in the returns and refunds policy.
Storing it properly
Olive oil is damaged by heat and light far faster than by time. Keep it cool, dark and sealed, away from the hob, and use it within about eighteen months of harvest. If you bought a tin, decant a little into a smaller bottle for daily use and leave the rest sealed.
Oil that has been left open in sunlight on a windowsill for a year has not failed to conform — it has been stored badly, and that is outside the guarantee.
What we do not promise
We make no health claims for this product, and nothing on our website should be read as one. Under Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 only authorised claims may be made for a food, and claims about preventing or treating disease are prohibited entirely. If you have read a health claim attributed to Olivius somewhere, it did not come from us.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Complaints and disputes
Write to our contact form. A real person reads it. There are two of us, and we aim to reply within one working day, longer through the November harvest.
If we cannot resolve it between us, you may take the matter to an alternative dispute resolution body or to the consumer authority in your own country. In Greece that is the Consumer Ombudsman (Συνήγορος του Καταναλωτή). The European Consumer Centre in your country can tell you which body applies to you.
Note on the EU ODR platform: the European Online Dispute Resolution platform was permanently discontinued on 20 July 2025 and no longer accepts complaints. We do not link to it, and any website still doing so is pointing you at something that does not exist.
These terms are governed by Greek law. As a consumer you keep the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings there.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it, and we keep the date of the last change at the top of this page.
